Video

This video is just an example of one we could make for our band. We won't be using this but we became accustomed to the video camera and learnt how to use it appropriately. In the next few weeks we will be using the video camera again to complete the video we will use for our band. In this video, we documented the college, taking the viewer on a short tour. This gave us inspiration for using the college as the set for the video of the band, but may not be something we use.

Stop Motion Storyboard

This is the storyboard for the stop motion video we made of Snake and Pong. It shows each movement and change in the video step by step. It describes in detail how the video will be set out.

Band photographer

I have been looking at Robert John, who became a band photographer after a racing accident that ended his career. I can't find much information on him, other than the fact that his main subject was the popular rock band 'Guns N' Roses'. Other bands he worked with included W.A.S.P, London and LA Guns.

I also found Steve Gerrard who photographed A Day To Remember, one of the bands I researched, when they placed in Birmingham in March 2010. These are a few of the images:

I am inspired by these images. This is largely to do with the lighting in the photographs. I love that they illuminate the band member and the rest of the photo seems insignificant. The composition of the images are all central which keeps the focus on that person. The images are all captured when the band member is striking a pose and the only props included are their instruments.

As well as these, I have come across Niel Zlozower who is a famous rock band photographer. He is most famous for capturing the early days of Van Halen. He's also photographed Black Sabbath, Ratt and Motley Crue.

Researching band photography

We have spent one and a half sessions researching into different bands within our chosen genre, rock, and band photographers.

One of the bands I chose to research is 'A Day To Remember'. I have collected some photographs taken of the band:

They like to take humorous images, only appearing serious is a select handful of them. Whilst many of the pictures look posed for, they have a natural element and you can tell they were having fun. This is something I would like to put across when capturing the images of the band I am creating.

Another band I am researching is 'Bullet For My Valentine'. Again, I have collected a few photographs:

Contrary to the other band I researched, this band have taken a more serious approach to their images. It gives the impression they take their music quite seriously. Whilst I will include some serious images, the pictures of this band have made me decide against having too many, as, especially with a young audience, the band looks more appealing if it looks like they incorporate fun into their music.

research on stop motions vids

I have been looking at the white stripes - the hardest button to button for inspiration.

Another video :)

This is a video that i made with a larger group of people based around 80's classic games. It's designed to be a music video for an imaginary band. It's created using stop motion, this is several still images put together and sped up to make a video. We then added 8-bit music to the video to give it an 80's feel. We added this as we felt it was very appropriate for the video and it flowed with the movements of the snake.  To create the video, we used chewits for the snake, a tic tac for the dot it is chasing and straws for the border. Overall, I am more than pleased with how this video turned out. I think we had low expectations of the final piece but it turned out looking brilliant.

I made a stop motion video :)

I made this video in a small group and we each uploaded it and made it flow, changing the speed and order, and put music with it. It is made from several pictures taken in succession and then put into iMovie to create a video.
